Questions & Answers What does asana mean?
Asana means posture or stretch pose. Postures are gentle stretching movements designed to help balance the mind and body. The Yoga Postures are designed to rejuvenate the brain, spine, glands and internal organs. They work by increasing the blood circulation to these areas and by stimulating them with a gentle squeezing action. The asanas were designed with economy of time and effort in mind. Most of them work on more than one aspect of the body at the same time. For example, the twist movement benefits the spine, adrenal glands, liver, pancreas and kidneys.

What is Oki-do Yoga?
Oki-do Yoga was developed by Dr. Masahiro Oki,
who devoted his life to others through his work as a teacher, healer
and writer. Okido uses a variety of traditional yoga asanas, yet
focuses on core stabilization and whole body strengthening by
incorporating Japanese self-defense into the practice. The poses are
done in a repetitive format to help develop a strong core and to
rebalance the body’s natural posture by using one’s own self awareness.
A unique part of this style of yoga is the work that is done with
partners to help increase strength, flexibility and communication in a
fun and challenging environment.
